 Job Title:                 Finance and Office Manager

Hours:                      Part time (Initially 20 hours per week)

Salary:                       £11/hour

Job Purpose

The Finance and Office Manager is responsible for the financial management and sales administration of Seal Metal Recycling, based in Cllitheroe, Lancs. Reporting into the Directors’ as well as the Group Finance Manager of sister company based in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

The role would be ideal for someone who is keen to return to work after a career break or is looking for a more flexible approach to the working week. Please note that this is a metal recycling company and operates from a yard and not cosy, town centre offices. Only the hardy, with a a sense of humour need apply.

Key Responsibilities

We are needing someone who can proficiently hit the ground running with the following responsibilities:

A. Bookkeeping

  1. To produce accurate ins and outs paper work for each transaction
  2. Enter into Sage all purchase invoices, payments, sales invoices and receipts
  3. Reconcile bank account
  4. Ensure that all sales are reconciled
  5. Maintain nominal codes records

B.  Management Accounts

  1. Prepare the monthly management accounts

C.  Cash Management

  1. Ensure all cash is reconciled to takings and banked
  2. Prepare and update cash flow

D.  Invoice Management

  1. Payment of correctly authorised invoices
  2. Prepare sales invoices as instructed
  3. Exercise credit control on sales invoices
  4. File all sales and purchase invoices


  1. Ensure VAT is correctly analysed in SAGE
  2. Preparation of VAT return and payment of VAT 

Knowledge, experience & skills required:

  • Minimum AAT qualified or equivalent
  • Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail
  • Experience of SAGE accounting software and Excel essential
  • Good working knowledge of VAT
  • Sales ledger, credit control and purchase ledger experience essential
  • Payroll experience desirable
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritise many varying tasks effectively
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and work to meet deadlines
  • Confidence to communicate with staff at all levels, as well as suppliers and customers
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • A clear commitment to achieving accuracy and excellence
  • Motivated, energetic and committed and not afraid to get stuck in to make a difference!

Holiday entitlement: 20 days including Bank holiday entitlement (Pro Rata)
